Solve windows 8 ‘We weren’t able to connect to the Store’ Error

S

I have loaded windows 8 onto my PC long back and I recently came across an error which says

windows-store-cannot-connect

We weren’t able to connect to the Store. This might have happened because of a server problem or the network connection timed out. Please wait a few minutes and try again.

So when I tried to find out the possible cause I came across this post . So I thought I could make a post on it which will be helpful for other windows 8 user who are facing the same problem.

Task 1 : To Make sure Internet is working fine

Task 3 : Windows Services or Windows Start Up Items

There might be a service or start up program that can be responsible for this error. To make sure whether that is the actual problem do following.

1. Open Run box and type “msconfig” whichi will bring up the system configuration settings.

msconfig run command

2. Select the “Diagnostic Start Up” Mode which will load only basic services and disable all the start up items from task manager “Start Up” tab.

3. After changing start up mode to diagnostic and Disabling all the Start Up programs try restarting PC and open the store, If  your store got opened then identify a particular service or start up program which is causing the trouble.

Task 4 : Try using Local Account or Different Microsoft Account

There can be problem with your Microsoft account as well for some or the other reason, Make sure that your account is not locked and working fine by logging yourself at https://login.live.com and try logging with local account into your windows 8 PC and see if the store is working fine.

Task 5 : Finally Try Refreshing your PC

As a final try you can try refreshing your PC, this is not an ideal suggestion but since you have attempted all the above mentioned things and still it is not working the only option we are left with is Refreshing PC. It will reset all of your apps and remove any third party softwares that you have installed on your PC. You can refresh your PC as follows

1. Open Charms menu by typing “windows + C” and click on settings and “PC Settings” to open up PC Settings Window.

PC Settings

2.  Go to General Menu and on the right hand side you can find refresh PC without affecting your files options .
